Delivering project services for the development of a NSW government-owned coal mine project.

The Cobbora Coal Project was a greenfield open-cut coal mine proposed by Cobbora Holding Company Pty Limited (CHC). The mine was designed to supply up to 20 million tonnes of coal per annum to three major coal-fired power stations in NSW. However, the project did not proceed due to the NSW government negotiating the cancellation of the coal supply contract. The project scope included:

  • ROM pad, CHPP, and TLO for 20Mtpa ROM.
  • 28km rail spur and balloon loop.
  • Pump station and 26km raw water supply pipeline.
  • 66KV power feed.
  • 11KV electrical reticulation.
  • Site water management and dams.
  • Local road realignment/closure.
  • Before its cancellation, the project was developed to the detailed design stage, including obtaining all relevant approvals.

Engenicom was engaged by Cobbora Holding Company to provide project services, ensuring compliance and effective project execution.

Key responsibilities included:

  • Project Management: Overseeing planning, coordination, and execution of project elements.
  • Project Engineering: Supporting the development of engineering designs and construction methodologies.
  • Construction Management: Managing construction strategies and contractor performance.
  • Environmental Management: Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability practices.
  • Commercial and Contract Management: Administering contracts, negotiations, and risk management.
  • Safety, Quality, and Environmental Compliance: Maintaining adherence to best practices and industry standards.

Although the project did not proceed to construction, Engenicom’s contributions ensured the project was fully developed, assessed, and positioned for execution had conditions permitted.
