Astra Street Landfill Capping Project

The Astra Landfill Capping and Environmental Works Project involves environmental remediation work at a former landfill in Shortland to protect the local ecosystem, safeguard water quality in surrounding wetlands, and promote long-term biodiversity. The project includes clay capping, regrading, new drainage systems, and revegetation efforts to ensure environmental sustainability.

Engenicom is providing project management services to assist the City of Newcastle in delivering this critical environmental project.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the Principal Contractor and liaising with validation and geotechnical consultants.
• Overseeing design and planning consultants to resolve RFIs and unexpected site conditions.
• Ensuring compliance with NSW EPA regulations, the Voluntary Management Proposal, and other environmental requirements.
• Reviewing contractor documentation and facilitating construction quality assurance inspections.
• Conducting on-site surveillance and assisting with contract administration and claims assessments.
• Managing stakeholder engagement and ensuring environmental monitoring requirements are met.
