Enhancing rail maintenance capabilities to support operational efficiency.

The Aurizon Long Term Train Maintenance Facility (LTTSF) was developed to expand Aurizon’s provisioning and maintenance capacity to meet the increasing demands of its operations in the Hunter Valley and NSW. The facility enables efficient locomotive and wagon provisioning, statutory and routine maintenance inspections, and train servicing to ensure optimal operational performance.

Engenicom was engaged to provide project, commercial, and construction management services from feasibility through to project completion.

Key responsibilities included:

  • Conducting feasibility studies and developing cost estimates.
  • Overseeing concept design and location options analysis to determine the optimal site for the facility.
  • Managing the procurement process, including contractor selection and regulatory approvals.
  • Coordinating environmental compliance, including wetland and ecological community impact assessments.
  • Supervising the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Implementing risk management strategies to mitigate construction and operational challenges.

Through Engenicom’s strategic oversight and expertise, the facility was successfully delivered, enhancing Aurizon’s long-term maintenance capabilities and supporting the efficient movement of freight across the network.
